Biomedical Science combines the fields of biology and medicine in order to study and improve human health. The Department of Biomedical Science is composed of a group of professional educators and medical doctors who provide education in medical and health-related fields.
The Biomedical Sciences major is an interdisciplinary program designed for students specifically wishing to pursue a career in the health sciences. The students of Biomedical Science will focus their study on chemistry, biology, and the anatomy and physiology of the human body. After completing the required common core classes, students will specialize in a concentration area of interest through upper-level courses. Graduates of the Biomedical Science program will go on to become healthcare professionals or pursue graduate/professional studies in a wide variety of medical and health-related fields.
This program also offers an Integrative Health Science concentration, a first for the State of New York. This concentration provides a unique combination which instills in students an appreciation for the genuine well-being of each individual through the perspective of a preventive, integrative and holistic approach to health sciences, combining state-of-art advances in western medicine with wisdom from the time-honored traditions of the ancients.

The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science program seeks to provide a solid foundation and an excellent educational experience to prepare qualified and aspiring students for careers or advanced studies in the biomedical or health-related fields.
The program currently offers the Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree with two concentrations:
All faculty members have received systematic training in their fields from respected United States institutions. They represent a unique mix of medical professionals with MD degrees who have strong clinical and teaching experience and academics with PhD degrees with experience in teaching and/or research. The presence of a faculty member with a doctor of acupuncture and oriental medicine degree (DAOM) strengthens the integrative nature of the program. Together, their backgrounds are complementary and match well with the curriculum and objectives of the program.
Fei Tian’s MD faculty members have been highly successful in their own clinical practices, gaining both local and worldwide recognition. PhD faculty members also have extensive experience in teaching at the college level or in the industrial research environment.

Dr. Noto graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York Presbyterian Hospital of Cornell and Columbia. He is board certified in Rehabilitation and Pain Management and currently runs the Spine and Joint Center. In 2012, he received the Patient Choice Award for his compassionate approach to patients. Dr. Noto also volunteers as a board member of Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting.

Dr. Corson is board certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine. She has more than 30 years of clinical experience and has run a successful private practice since 2003, specializing in the treatment of chronic illness from vector borne infections and environmental causes. In 2009, she received the Physicians Training Program Impact Award from the Turn the Corner Foundation in New York, and was the recipient of the Special Recognition Award in 2013 from the 2013 Physician’s Round Table Conference. In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Dr. Corson is a noted expert on Lyme Disease and has given numerous lectures and presentations on this topic.

Dr. Harrison-Houston was trained in a scientist-practitioner model with an emphasis on multicultural awareness. As a Veterans Affairs intern, she provided inpatient and outpatient services, to include culturally appropriate treatment for Indian Health Services. Dr. Harrison-Houston also has over 10 years of multidisciplinary clinical experience in the general population with a variety of mental health issues, specializing in developmental disorders and trauma, and two years teaching experience. She focuses on psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being in clinical practice and teaching.

Dr. Liang is the founder and a partner in Kingsfoil Acupuncture Clinic, a private practice of traditional Chinese medicine. She has also been active in teaching traditional Chinese medicine at various institutions for subjects including: Fundamentals of Chinese Medicine; Obstetrics and Gynecology in Traditional Chinese Medicine; Chinese Herbs; Prescription Ingredients; and Diagnostics.

Dr. Liu has over 5 years of teaching experience and 10 years research experience. Dr. Liu is a passionate educator with strong and broad Biomedical academic background. He’s currently an adjunct assistant professor at Barnard College.

Dr. Wang’s academic teaching and research interests include the neuropathological and neuropharmacological study of degenerative neurological diseases, neuronal plasticity of brain, clinical laboratory science and basic and clinical pharmacology.

Dr. Jiang has over 15 years of professional research experience in Human Nutrition, Food Science, Chemical Analysis, and Clinical Research, including biocompatibility studies. She also has extensive training across medical and life sciences fields and has worked at Medtronic CRDM Clinical and other labs.
